When a Tiny Whirlwind Changed Everything
Hi, I’m Lexa — an adoptive mom to a bright, spirited little girl who came into our lives after a long, winding journey we never quite expected to take.
We didn’t choose adoption in the romantic, Pinterest-perfect way. The truth is: infertility, heartbreak, waiting, and more waiting led us here. And when we finally said yes, it still didn’t feel real. It felt terrifying and beautiful and impossible all at once.
She Came Home — And So Did We
Our daughter was born early. She was tiny, fragile, and we met her just after her first birthday. She was fourteen months old when she first came home to us — and we had about a month to prepare emotionally, physically, and spiritually. And then, just like that, she was home. With us. Ours.
She is now a bold, bright twenty-six-month-old who keeps us on our toes every single day. In many ways, it feels like she has always been part of our story. At the same time, this journey has been anything but simple.
The Part Nobody Warns You About
Nobody warned me that I could cry from exhaustion and gratitude at the exact same moment. That I could feel like the most blessed person in the world and the most clueless new mom — sometimes within the same hour.
Day by day, we are finding our way as an adoptive family. And somehow, it keeps getting better and better.
Why I Started Writing
This blog was born a few months later, during naptimes and quiet evenings, as a way to process everything: the love, the doubt, the bonding struggles, the milestones, the questions. I wanted to write down the things I couldn’t always say out loud.
And I hoped that maybe, just maybe, someone out there would feel less alone reading it.
